Rebound (Field) Hardness Testing

The field hardness tester is highly portable and includes a field calibration sample to ensure that the readings it provides are accurate every time
How Does It Work?
A rebound hardness tester works by dropping a very hard weight of a known mass and shape from a known height and measuring how high the weight rebounds after contact with the surface. The surface must first be prepared in order to provide as close to a smooth and flat surface as possible (see Field Metallography for the preparation procedure). The harder the material, the higher the weight will rebound.
